Inclusive Education: Students with Disabilities in the Greek University Promoting Equal Access for All Students

WeSolve hosted the online event “Integrating Students with Disabilities into Our Greek University” at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). The event, organized by students and Faculty, focused on the challenges faced by students with disabilities and how to make university life more accessible.

The session featured students with disabilities sharing their experiences with accessibility, participation in classes, exams and accessing resources. They discussed the importance of technology and proposed solutions to improve university services, including better training for staff and adjustments to educational processes.

The event also included contributions from notable speakers, such as Mr. Georgios Kouroupetroglou, Head of the Accessibility Unit at NKUA, and Mr. Vangelis Augoulas, a visually impaired lawyer. Professors from EKPA, including Mr. Georgios Dellis, Dimitrios Christodoulou, Spyridon Vlachopoulos, Antonios Karampatzos and Nikolaos Katiforis, also joined the discussion, expressing their support for a more inclusive university.

Ms. Kalliopi Christakakou-Fotiadi, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, closed the event by pledging her support for the initiative and ensuring the university’s commitment to improving accessibility for all students.

The event sparked strong interest from students and Faculty, setting the stage for future actions to create a more inclusive academic environment.
