Creating Change through Disability, Accessibility, and Inclusion

WeSolve hosted an impactful event at the OTE Academy to discuss disability, accessibility and inclusion, aiming to raise awareness and inspire action towards a more accessible world.

Key Sessions:

  • Disability & University
    Angelos Syrigos, Deputy Minister of Education, outlined the Government's efforts to address issues faced by people with disabilities. George Kouroupetroglou, from the Accessibility Unit at Athens University, shared initiatives to enhance campus accessibility. Students with disabilities shared their personal experiences, highlighting campus challenges and motivating action for more inclusive universities.

  • Disability & Sports
    Nikos Papangelis, a leading Greek paracyclist, shared his journey of competing in the Tokyo Paralympics after losing his leg. Nasos Gavellas, Paralympic gold medalist, spoke about excelling in athletics after losing his sight. Antonis Tsapatakis, Paralympic swimmer, urged collective action to create a more inclusive society.

  • Disability & Jobs
    Dimitris Fatouros from UNRIC spoke about the Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on improving access to education and jobs for people with disabilities. Vangelis Avgoulas, the first disabled lawyer elected to the Athens Bar Association, shared his experience overcoming barriers in the legal field. Anita Nathanael and Ioanna Paliospirou highlighted the transformative power of volunteering.

Launch of the "EquAll" Campaign
WeSolve launched its new campaign, EquAll (Equality for All), promoting the message that everyone is equal and unique. The campaign calls for collective action to create an accessible world for all.
